A French Bistro on the Upper West Side: Dinner, and a $49 Prix Fixe Every Night

The Amélie storefront at 566 Amsterdam Avenue

Amélie sits at 566 Amsterdam Avenue, and if you are looking for a French restaurant on the Upper West Side, this is a French bistro with the heart of a wine bar. We have been here since 2017. Dinner is the classics, done the way you hope a French kitchen will do them, with a three-course prix fixe every night for $49.

The $49 prix fixe, every night

The prix fixe is served every night at dinner. Not everyone at the table has to order it. It is three courses:

  • To start, the soup of the day, roasted cauliflower with butternut squash purée and black garlic, hand cut beef tartare, or escargots à l'ail.
  • Then ravioles du Royans, moules-frites marinière, the Amélie burger, or the steak au poivre (an $8 supplement).
  • To finish, vanilla crème brûlée or Valrhona dark chocolate mousse.

Tax and gratuity are not included. Swap the fries for truffle fries on the burger or the steak for $5.

Or order from the dinner menu

If you would rather build your own dinner, the dinner menu is where to start. A few of the classics:

  • Warm goat cheese ball, with a pistachio crust and honey, $12
  • Escargots à l'ail, $16
  • French onion soup, $16
  • Hand cut beef tartare, with quail egg, cornichons and harissa, $19
  • Salade Lyonnaise, with warm bacon, a poached egg and mustard vinaigrette, $19
  • Moules-frites marinière, $29
  • Coq au vin, red wine braised chicken legs with button mushrooms, pearl onions and bacon lardons, $31
  • Roasted hake, with mushroom broth, artichokes and hazelnut oil, $30
  • Seared local duck breast, with celery root purée, maitake mushrooms and a Port sauce, $43
  • Steak au poivre, Creekstone Farm hanger steak with peppercorn sauce, $39

Save room for a vanilla crème brûlée ($11), the dark chocolate mousse ($12) or the pear crumble ($12). To share, there is a cheese and charcuterie list: one item for $8, three for $21 or five for $32.

Oysters, and something to drink

Oysters are $1.50 at happy hour every day, and all day on Sundays and Mondays. Happy hour runs every day from 4 pm to 6 pm, with a $10 wine of the day and $14 wine flights; see the happy hour menu. For the wine list itself, read our guide to the wine bar on Amsterdam Avenue.

When we serve dinner

  • Monday to Thursday and Sunday: 4 pm to 9:30 pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 4 pm to 10:30 pm

Not a dinner person? Lunch is Tuesday to Friday, 12 to 3 pm (lunch menu), and brunch is Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 3 pm (brunch menu).

Prices and times as of 3 November 2026.
