DC Lunch Special: The $26 Two-Course Prix Fixe at Amélie

If you are searching for a lunch special in DC, here is ours. From Tuesday to Friday, 12 pm to 3 pm, Amélie serves a two-course bistro lunch for $26 at 1315 14th Street NW, in Logan Circle: one appetizer, one main, a proper table.
How the $26 lunch works
Choose an appetizer and an entrée from the lunch menu. The price is $26 either way. Add a glass of the wine of the day for $10, in red, sparkling, rosé or white.
The appetizers:
- Soupe du jour, the chef's daily selection
- French onion soup, with beef broth, croutons and Gruyère
- Chicken liver mousse, with Burgundy wine gelée, pear, pickled vegetables and onion marmalade
- Escargots à l'ail, in garlic parsley butter under puff pastry
- Roasted cauliflower, with butternut squash purée, black garlic and pickled onions
The entrées:
- Salade Amélie, with romaine, radicchio, avocado, green beans, fennel and Manchego (add chicken or smoked salmon for $7)
- Salade Niçoise, with seared tuna, boiled eggs, anchovies, haricots verts, potatoes and olives (an $8 supplement)
- Le croque monsieur, with ham, smoked béchamel, Gruyère and fries (add an egg or bacon for $3)
- Chicken sandwich, on ciabatta with coleslaw, chipotle sauce and pickled peppers, with fries
- The Amélie burger, dry-aged grass-fed beef with Brie, black pepper aioli, pickles and caramelized onions, with fries (a $5 supplement)
- Moules-frites marinière, mussels steamed in white wine with crème fraîche, garlic, shallots and celery
- Steak-frites, a grass-fed hanger steak with peppercorn sauce (a $10 supplement)
On any entrée you can swap the fries for truffle fries for $5.

The lunch menu also has an à la carte side. A croque monsieur or the chicken sandwich is $18, the Amélie burger $25, ravioles du Royans $24 and the moules-frites $29. Starters run from $11 for the warm pistachio-crusted goat cheese ball to $23 for the grilled octopus. Dessert is $11 to $15: vanilla crème brûlée, chocolate mousse, a warm pear tarte tatin or the profitronut.
A glass with lunch
Amélie is a wine bar at heart, and the happy hour wine of the day is available at lunch too: $10 a glass. Ask your server what is open today. If lunch turns into the afternoon, happy hour starts at 3 pm Tuesday to Thursday and runs to 6:30; our happy hour guide has the full list.
