Happy Hour in Logan Circle: A $10 Glass, a Flight and Something Small to Share

Happy hour, the way it is done in France
In a French bistro, the early evening has its own name: l'apéro. It is the hour between the day and the dinner, a glass in your hand, something small on the table, nobody checking a watch. We built our happy hour at 1315 14th Street NW around that idea. It is not a rush. It is a good seat, a good glass and a plate to share while Logan Circle goes by outside.
Here is everything on the happy hour menu, so you can plan your evening before you walk in.
When happy hour runs
The times change a little from one day to the next, so here they are in full:
- Monday: 4 pm to 6:30 pm
- Tuesday to Thursday: 3 pm to 6:30 pm
- Sunday: 3 pm to 6:30 pm
- Friday and Saturday: 3 pm to 6 pm
That puts happy hour firmly after work on Monday and a little earlier the rest of the week. If you finish at five, there is still plenty of time to get a table, order a glass and settle in. The full list is always on the happy hour menu.
The wine: a glass for $10, a flight for $14
Amélie is, at heart, a wine bar, so the wine is where happy hour begins.
Wine of the day is $10 a glass or $40 a bottle. It comes in white, rosé, red or sparkling, and your server will tell you what is open today. It is the easiest way to start, and if you like it, the bottle price is hard to argue with.
Happy hour flights are $14. Each flight is three French pours built around a theme, so you can taste your way through something you would not usually order. The menu lists six:
- Sparkling
- Dry mineral whites, such as a Picpoul from the Languedoc or a Muscadet from the Loire Valley
- Light reds, including a Gamay from Beaujolais and a Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley
- Aromatic whites
- Full body smooth reds
- Rosé all day
The flight price steps up to $17 after 6:30 pm Sunday to Thursday, and after 6 pm on Friday and Saturday.
Petits plats, from $9
The small plates are the other half of the hour. Prices are straight from the menu:
- Warm pistachio crusted goat cheese with honey and caramelized onions, $9
- Chicken liver mousse with Burgundy wine gelée, pear, pickled vegetables and onion marmalade, $9
- Truffle fries with truffle oil and Parmesan, $10
- Roasted cauliflower with butternut squash purée, black garlic and pickled onions, $10
- Crispy artichokes with piquillo pepper and mint, $10
- Baked Camembert with confit garlic, thyme and honey, $12
- Escargots à l'ail in garlic and parsley butter under puff pastry, $13
- Plateau apéro, an assortment of cured meats and cheese (a chef selection of three items), $16
- Beef tartare with quail egg, cornichons, capers and harissa sauce, $16
If there are two of you, the Camembert and a plateau apéro make a very good early dinner. If there are four, order the lot.
Cocktails at $10
If wine is not the plan, happy hour cocktails are $10: a vodka or gin martini, an old fashioned, a sangria, a negroni or a tequila honeysuckle.
Oysters on Sunday and Monday
On Sundays and Mondays, oysters are $1.50 each all night, or have six oysters and a glass of wine for $19.
The early bird: $28
For a proper meal at a happy hour price, the early bird specials are $28 each:
- The Amélie burger with a beer or a glass of wine. It is dry-aged grass-fed beef with Brie, black pepper aioli, pickles, onion and fries.
- Moules-frites with a glass of white wine. The mussels are steamed in white wine with garlic, shallots, celery and crème fraîche.
Both are a full plate and a drink, which makes them a solid midweek answer when nobody wants to cook.
Coming for lunch instead?
From Tuesday to Friday, 12 pm to 3 pm, the happy hour wine of the day is also available during lunch at $10 a glass, alongside the lunch menu and its two-course prix fixe for $26. Weekend visits can start with brunch on Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 3 pm.
Prices and times as of 28 October 2026.
